Villa San Michele is a 5-room Bed and Breakfast set in a XVII century farmhouse located in the peaceful hamlet of Vico d’Elsa (approx. 400 inhabitants), in Barberino Val d’Elsa Municipality (Florence province). In 2019, following the merging with Tavarnelle Val di Pesa, the town has been renamed Barberino Tavarnelle.
The property has a beautiful outdoor space with gorgeous views over the Val d’Elsa countryside extending up to San Gimignano. As we are located in a tiny Tuscan hamlet, guests will experience the real Tuscan life and at the same time will be just a short drive from some of the most amazing sights of the region: on the doorstep to Chianti, Barberino Val d’Elsa (7 Km), Certaldo (8 km), San Gimignano (15 Km), Siena (38 Km), Florence (50 Km) and Volterra (40 Km) to name a few.
We opened the property to guests in September 2017 after having renovated and refurbished it extensively to give it a new lease of life and adapt it to our purposes and tastes, combining modern elements with original Tuscan features.
The property is made up of two separate buildings: the main Villa and the former hay barn. The Villa, where the 5 en-suite guestrooms are located (1 room on the ground floor and 4 rooms on the first floor), is an old stone farmhouse with many of the original features restored. The ground floor offers a large relaxing indoor lounge area with a mixture of brick and stone arches, a beautiful fireplace and an indoor breakfast area.
The gardens are arranged over two levels, with plenty of seating areas (both in the sun and shaded by olive trees and cypresses), overlooking the stunning town of San Gimignano and the beautiful Tuscan countryside. Particularly during the warm season, guests will enjoy our garden dotted with jasmines, honeysuckle, roses, camellias and a beautiful wisteria pergola; we also have 11 beautiful olive trees (some of them hundreds of years old) that allow us to produce our own extra virgin olive oil.
A 10×6 m swimming pool with sun-beds and umbrellas on the lower level perfectly completes the outdoor space. On the same pool level, guests will find an outdoor shower and a shaded porch area.
The upper level includes a patio with an outdoor breakfast area where guests can enjoy a delicious breakfast in the morning sun – when the weather allows.

We are a British-Italian couple that in 2016 relocated to Tuscany, an area that we have visited extensively and that we now consider our home.
Leaving behind several years of work in corporate business, before settling in the tiny hamlet of Vico d’Elsa, we set off with our backpacks travelling around the world that ended up in spending a long time looking for the right spot to live and run our own business. We finally found it and we are absolutely thrilled to share our knowledge and best travel experiences in the region (and all over the world) with our guests and friends.
We both love travelling, cooking (and eating!), entertaining and enjoying the fine pleasures in life…and Tuscany seems to us the excellent blend of everything above!
